Melanoma Day April 24, 2026

On April 24, 2026, Melanoma Day was held - a preventive event for the early diagnosis of skin cancer.
The event was attended by employees of the Scientific and Technological Center for Biomedical Photonics and the Institute of System Programming (ISP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In total, 43 people underwent a comprehensive examination during the campaign.
A special feature of the event was the use of three advanced diagnostic technologies developed and implemented by scientists:
Dermatoscopy Experts assessed the condition of the skin for the presence of melanocytic neoplasms using a dermatoscope, which makes it possible to accurately recognize dangerous moles and birthmarks.
Laser Doppler Flowmetry (LDF) Wearable LDF devices were used to assess risk and health status. This technology made it possible to non-contactly assess the state of blood microcirculation, disturbances of which often accompany serious diseases, including cancer.
Digital diaphanoscopy For the first time, as part of Melanoma Day, the condition of the tissues of the maxillary sinuses was examined using a digital diaphanoscope, expanding the range of diagnostics of diseases of the head and neck.
Such actions, combining the efforts of doctors and developers of high-tech medical equipment, make it possible to promptly detect skin diseases, launch early prevention mechanisms and save lives.
Take care of your skin, get examined, and remember: early diagnosis is the best treatment.
